Welcome!
Thank you for visiting our chapters website. I am a proud 27 year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and now serve as the 15th President of Upsilon Phi Omega Chapter!
Upsilon Phi Omega Chapter was charted on January 31,1998 in Edwardsville, IL at Mt. Joy Baptist Church. The chapter was developed by a small group of women who began their journey as an interest group and named themselves,
Sisters With Pearls. These women were persistent and had a vision for the Madison County, IL community. Their vision proved to be successful in developing a Graduate chapter. On January 31, 1998, the chapter made history. Upsilon Phi Omega Chapter became the 1st Greek letter organization who's membership make up was primarily African-American women.
For almost 28 years the chapter has made significant contributions to the Alton, Collinsville, Madison, and Edwardsville communities. Some of those contributions include awarding almost $9,000 in scholarships annually to support young women in their journey to attend universities across the United States.
Under the leadership of our International President, Danette Anthony Reed, and Central Regional Director,
Kiahna W. Davis, Upsilon Phi Omega continues to SOAR! During 2022-2026, the chapter will continue to support the sororities International Program theme: Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood. There are 6 program initiatives:
Strengthen our Sisterhood (foundation initiative)
Empower Our Families
Build Our Economic Wealth
Enhance Our Environment
Advocate for Social Justice
Uplift Our Local Community
Under my term as President, the theme is, Changing the Culture, UPO Ready and Renewed. We are hopeful that you will join us one of our many events and/or fundraisers.
